Ballito

A PLACE WHERE QUALITY OF LIFE IS OUR PRIORITY

At Ballito, there is an ever-changing masterpiece of ocean, sky and shore.

Nestled on the green sub-tropical edge of the east coast
of sunny South Africa,

the warm Indian Ocean’s waves roll continuously to our shores.

Sometimes gently,
lapping back and forth,
tipped with their soft, white foam,
creating glistening lace-like patterns,
as they are pulled back across the wet sand.

Sometimes the waves form a long line,
starting with a slow, steady swelling energy,
increasing their size and momentum,
growing and swelling higher, and higher,
creating walls of deep blue water,
until their white tips appear and
the blue wall crashes over and splashes high into the air,
in a white frenzy of water racing to the shore.

Here, on the shores of the African coast,
where the silvery dolphins swim by,
and Zulu voices exchange their morning greetings,
there is a vast natural world to photograph.

These are a few of my digital attempts to capture
some of the natural beauty of the place I call home.
